Street Photography

"To me, photography is an art of observation.  It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place...
I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them."

Elliott Erwitt

Street photography is about telling a story in a single frame, capturing that “Decisive Moment”.

Many photographers are timid about “shooting strangers” on the street, which keeps them from trying.  This workshop will give you an opportunity to "try" with Michael's patient guidance and support.

The first evening session begins with an exploration of the various styles of street photography by viewing and discussing the work of some of its masters, including Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Steve McCurry, and Elliott Erwitt.  We will discuss anticipation and capturing the “decisive moment”

”There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture.

Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you,

and you must know with intuition when to click the camera.

That is the moment the photographer is creative.
The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever.”

Henri Cartier-Bresson

Then we are off to NYC because - “If you can make it there you can make it anywhere”.   Our chauffer driven limousine will drive us to Central Park where we will spend the day wandering and being creative.  Michael will be by your side guiding and encouraging you to tell your story, communicating what you see and developing your unique, artistic vision.  You will learn to be patient, trust you instinct and have fun while doing it all.

Your day in Central Park will be followed up with a 3-hour Lightroom session to begin developing your images.  The workshop will conclude with a final review session.

This boutique workshop is limited to 6 photographers who have a passion for learning street photography.  You will learn solid fundamentals, receive constructive criticism on how to improve your photos and meet other enthusiastic street photographers.  This workshop is ideal for photographers comfortable using their Digital camera.
