Portrait Lighting 101

Learn the fundamentals of classic portrait photography.  Michael will help you understand lighting, portraiture and explore techniques to develop your own unique voice and style of portraiture.  Portraiture is more than understanding the technical aspect of lighting and your camera; it is collaboration between you the photographer and your subject. 

You will learn different lighting techniques from Rembrandt lighting to dramatic theatrical lighting as well as how to interact with and pose your subject.  Learn how to use flash, studio and continuous lighting techniques while photographing a model.

All you need for this workshop is your digital SLR camera we supply the rest!

After completion of this workshop you can reserve studio time at BelmarArts to apply your new found skills on your own “subjects”.    Michael will be available for the reserved studio time and there will be lighting and backdrops available for your use.

Reserve Portrait Studio Time
2-hour reservations @ $150/BAC members or $175/non-BAC members
price includes Michael’s assistances and rental of studio, lighting equipment and backdrops.  You are responsible for setting and breaking down lighting equipment and backdrops.
